Pipestone is deceptive!
What looks like a straightforward 18 holes turns into a test and struggle of elevations as well as super tricky green reads.
The two standout holes are of course #2 and #18.
#2’s is a par 5 with a near 45 degree slopre straight towards a pond, with an advisory sign right by the tee box. You must pick your landing area carefully!
#18 is a rolling par with a big tee shot carrying a deep ravine and then one or two blind shots after that depending on where you end up in the two substantial hills between you and the green.
The rest of the course continues with interesting doglegs and elevation changes. This is not a course you show up to and smash driver every hole and expect any success, and you can very easily not lose any ball but still shoot above 100 if you’re not careful.
I love it!
Rates range from $45 - $70 so not the cheapest place around but also not the most expensive.
No long distances between holes however there are a TON of hills to walk up.
Get' pretty busy in good weather but not impossible to play on a typical day.

Some holes require perfect shots, but most are very forgiving. Not a lot of places to lose balls.
You will remember the holes for the hills, not for the scenery.
"Half Pipe" probably would have been a better name than Pipestone. This course has a TON of elevation changes.
Unnoteworthy, and the during the weekdays bar coverage is spotty.
